One Room Challenge: Week # 4 Office Woes Turned Whoa

We made it to Week 4, phew!  At this point, I feel like it is crucial to look back at Week 1 and Week 2 to emphasize the transformation. Back when I thought we were just adding thicker trim and a moody green accent wall.

Well, the walls are halfsies board & batten, halfsies dark green paint! That escalated quickly. The board & batten turned out awesome (we think). Although this project took a bit of patience, I will say that anyone with a table saw, a level and a keen sense of perfection for measuring could tackle it. Did you catch the post on our super handy, pretty dang important tips for board & batten? Check it out here.

The great paint debacle of Spring 2017, from the Week 3 post has been settled. Tarrytown Green by Benjamin Moore for the win. Fun fact: My sister and her family lived in Tarrytown, NY. When they moved there my nephew Finn, insisted on calling it ‘Scarytown.’ So we now have scarytown green on the walls and we love it!

If you recall from the Week 1 post, I mentioned that we would be including a cozy nook in the office. I’m super excited that the chair has arrived earlier than anticipated! While, I haven’t quite worked out the logistics of where it will go, it looks pretty dang sharp.

Last, but not least, the desk chair is complete. I’m beyond relieved that this, above anything else on our ORC to do list is finally done. This thing was a product of blood, sweat and tears…well, I don’t think I actually cried, but one of us did get bloody. It was Lincoln! He knocked a container of the studs on the ground and then proceeded to walk barefoot in the same direction of the fallen daggers. Whyyy!??? Oh man, it was straight out of a scene from Home Alone. Poor Marv.

Do you remember what the chair looked like before? Be sure to catch up on instagram to see the transformation.

Dear Week 5, Please be kind to us. Here’s what we have on our agenda:

  1. Hang the light fixture (the new one has arrived, just missing a few parts).
  2. Frame pictures for picture rail moulding (waiting on the arrival of the frames).
  3. Reveal the new rug for the space (possible sneak peek on insta stories).
  4. Finish filing cabinet project (add castors, stain wood slab, attach sleek new pulls).
  5. Pick out floating shelves.
  6. Hang curtains.
  7. Hunt for accessories: greenery, side table, lamps, desk organizer.
